Between Worlds: Nightmares of Fascism, Dreams of Liberation [TESC]

From Washington, DC and Olympia to Paris and Istanbul, nationalism and tyranny are on the rise. This is not simply a matter of far-right parties taking power; whoever holds the reins, the state itself is accumulating more and more control over every aspect of life. At the same time, the neoliberal consensus of the 20th century is fracturing, mobilizing grassroots reactionaries and raising the specter of civil war.
When fascism was gaining momentum nearly a century ago, what strategies were effective against it—or could have been? Where are today’s movements succeeding against Trump and the far right? How do we build inner and interpersonal resilience in the midst of these conflicts? And what is the alternative to a world of nationalist violence?
