Another recent, 2017-2020, attempt at reviving Harold’s legacy was called New Awakening. It made heavy use of Nazi symbols and imagery of Nazi soldiers, which it paired with Harold’s appropriated IRA imagery. This group was largely present on 4Chan and Roblox, often recruiting impressionable youths, eventually imploding after their leader was outed as a homosexual and they were unable to maintain stability afterwards. It was out of the ashes of this group, and the disillusionment with groups like the Base and AWD, that the Northwest Pioneer Association was born.
The NPA started its gestational period as a Facebook page run by the current leader, “Mungo” (aka Horus), and soon became a Discord group for a stint until the latter was abandoned due to security concerns, then a Guilded server was launched and got taken down, until they finally settled on an Element bunker and two telegram channels: one Telegram channel for broadcasting, and one that’s used as a chat.
The NPA see themselves as the true heir to Harold Covington, faithfully incorporating his ideas, making a whole micro subculture around him, and even making pilgrimages to Astoria and his grave in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Currently, there are about 30 active members, with only half of them actually living in the PNW. For clarity, their area of operations are strictly OR, WA, ID, and Western MT.
The NPA finds themselves on the pro-Christian, pro-Pagan, anti-Satanist, anti-pedophile side of the post-AWD splits. In general, they believe doctrine, proper behavior, and careful action are more important than religious squabbles or racial/ideological hair-splitting–though, of course, they also love to argue about that kind of thing for fun. This makes them natural allies with groups like The American Futurist, with whom they also share a hatred of Patriot Front and US patriotism in general, but they seldom have this level of affinity with other White Nationalist groups. Though most of the group leans anti-NATO and pro-Russia, they also strive to keep arguments over such topics to a minimum. In general, they encourage their members to get a good job, build a healthy family, and move to the PNW. They hold a pretty male chauvinist line, and generally think members should keep their girlfriends or wives in the dark about their ideology and focus on making white children and building a stable well-adjusted life, pending racist insurgency. They even pay lip service to working-class issues.
It’s important to reiterate that this is, in the final analysis, all a rational facade constructed around a core desire to kill random non-white people and gays as well as a white chauvinism that amounts to them being favored by God and the laughable idea that racially diverse military formations can’t function well. Even their quest for a republic is likely a ruse, as Harold himself described the day after their victory as a mask-off changing the victory songs to German, changing American to Aryan in the NAR title, and raising the original Nazi flag alongside the tricolor.
Currently the NPA has gear, the firearms, and the cell operation / phase guides. We could go on about how Harold adopted North Vietnamese guerilla doctrine such as trio-cells, etc. We could elaborate further how the NPA sees Europe and the US as failed projects and calls for whites from all over the world to move to the PNW, and are close to being successful in bringing over the first wave. We could go into how the NPA has crafted its own military doctrine, written by former US Service Members. He, like much of the Portland Cell, also supports Azov and NSBM more than the others in the NPA and still has a soft spot for terrorgram type posting. He likely lives with his parents in Wilsonville, who employ him via their company Apollo Electric LTD, and hold typical QAnon style MAGA views, if you can call those typical, but likely do not know that Daniel hates America, it’s mixed race military, and the “Masonic Dishrag” they call they American Flag. Noj aka Noah aka Chernyshiva: Noj was also part of Vinlandic Brigade Propaganda and is currently in the NSBM band Ulvehiet and has been in numerous other NSBM and RAC bands. He’s currently living in the Portland area and has been spotted at shows. His family and some of his friends likely do not know his true politics as he used to be an antifascist scene kid in Alaska and even has a hammer tattoo and a sickle tattoo on his knuckles and appears to have had friendships and romantic relationships with leftists in Portland in the past. He left NPA, likely over the fact that he’s the wrong kind of Eastern European and has affinity for Islam influenced nationalities like Albanians, Bosnians, and Iranians despite playing in a band with anti-Islamic themes. He got an anti-racist skinhead fired from his job and continually spouts vile and anti-Black, anti-Trans, and anti-Jewish rhetoric on his Instagram and is a huge NSBM fan and genuinely believes in the White Supremacy. Daniel Ferguson Jr.: Daniel was a zealous member of the NPA chats. Though he was waiting until they got more serious to make a commitment to move, his support for fitness, firearms, and a general neo-Nazi vehemence helped carry the group for certain periods. It’s likely that the best ways to defeat reactionary groups in general is to target them in their infancy, hit them logistically, and to beat the ruling order they depend on. When they take up the mantle of the revolutionaries or insurgents it may seem tricky, but taking action that reveals who the true partisans of social revolution are seems to us the best way to ensure they have no such claim.
